Lead Scientist interviewed about career and work at ECAT

After receiving the ROMA Award for Woman in STEM 2023, ECAT's Lead Scientist Emilia Gómez was interviewed by Spanish outlet ABC. She shared an overview of her career, including her background studying music computing, and working on musical recommender systems.

Asked about how much humans can trust AI at this stage, Emilia explained how the team at ECAT researches algorithms to understand their trustworthiness and their impact on people.

She added that her team’s job at the Joint Research Centre is to provide scientific and technical support to the European Commission so that it can make informed, evidence-based decisions. Our current focus is on the Digital Services Act and the AI Act.
