Carles Soriano-Mas is Full Professor of Quantitative Psychology at the University of Barcelona and leads the Psychiatry and Mental Health Research Group at the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL).
His research lies at the intersection of cognitive neuroscience, mental health and quantitative methods, with a particular focus on understanding the brain mechanisms underlying human cognition, behaviour and vulnerability to mental disorders. He has published more than 260 articles in international peer-reviewed journals, receiving over 18,000 citations. His work combines neuroimaging with advanced quantitative and computational approaches to investigate cortico-subcortical brain systems involved in cognitive and emotional regulation, learning and decision-making. His research has particularly focused on obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety and mood disorders, examining both their neurobiological mechanisms and the factors that contribute to individual differences in clinical symptoms, behaviour and vulnerability to psychopathology.
