New research survey for young users of AI chatbots

The European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) is conducting a study to understand how adolescents and young people across the EU use, perceive and trust AI chatbots for emotional support and life advice — and how this use could possibly affect child-parent relationships. This research supports ongoing scientific work carried out under the Human behaviour and machine intelligence (HUMAINT) project, and the findings will inform online safety policy and practice across the EU.

To inform this work, we have launched a survey targeted at adolescents and young adults aged 13-25 who have already used an AI Chatbot, such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Claude, Siri, Alexa, character chatbots, or similar tools.

The survey takes approximately 15 minutes, and all responses are anonymous.

If you are between 13 and 25, please consider contributing to this important work. If not, your help would be appreciated in disseminating the survey with anyone you know in this age group.
