ECAF'26

ECAT is partnering with the European Conference on Algorithmic Fairness (formerly EWAF) again in 2026.

ECAF focuses on algorithmic fairness as a cornerstone of responsible technology, with the specific aim to showcase innovative European research. 

This year, the Call for Papers included a focus on systemic risks of large online platforms and search engines, in particular regarding dissemination of illegal products, gender-based violence, protection of minors, freedom of expression and disinformation. Research on these topics is crucial to our efforts to make the online world safer for all EU citizens, and we look forward to learning from the conference papers. 

Members of the ECAT team will be at ECAF, running a session on DSA researcher data access on Thursday 3 September, and presenting the paper With a Little Help From My Friends: Collective Manipulation in Risk-Controlling Recommender Systems in a spotlight presentation and poster session on Wednesday 2 September.
